THE FREMONT TROLL

Stroll through Fremont past the Center of the Universe signpost, the rocket and the Sunday market, grab a fish from the fishmonger's crates, and walk up to the sleeping giant under the bridge.

Then he wakes. Dodge the hand, the stomp and the roar, and land five flying fish to sing him back to sleep. If his hand gets you, the count resets.

The Troll lives in the Jimothy app. Levels 1–4 come free with it; the Golden Pass unlocks the Troll, every level after him and the golden coat.

THE REAL TROLL

The Fremont Troll has crouched under the north end of the Aurora Bridge since 1990, a one-eyed concrete giant with a hubcap for an eye and a real Volkswagen Beetle crushed in his left hand. He was sculpted by Steve Badanes, Will Martin, Donna Walter and Ross Whitehead, and the street he lives on was renamed Troll Avenue in his honor. In the game he is drawn true to life — hubcap, Beetle, bridge pier and all — and he only wants to go back to sleep.
